Live in The Stormlight Archive freeYou begin as
A twenty-year-old who has just been assigned to Bridge Four in Highprince Sadeas's army on the Shattered Plains
Highstorms scour Roshar, carrying Stormlight in their wake, while on the Shattered Plains the Alethi highprinces race across chasms to harvest gemhearts from chasmfiends, and the Parshendi kill anyone who gets there first. The bridgemen run ahead of the army, without armour, the first target for every arrow, and you have just been sent to Bridge Four, the unluckiest crew in Sadeas's camp. Its new bridgeleader is a slave with a shash brand on his forehead, Kaladin, who will not stop trying to keep you all alive.
