Live in Shades of Magic freeYou begin as
A twenty-year-old who lives in Red London
There are four Londons in four worlds, one laid over another: Grey London, which has forgotten magic; Red London, where magic thrives and the royal Maresh family rules the empire of Arnes; White London, where magic is starved and fought over; and Black London, which nobody speaks of. Only the Antari, magicians marked by one eye of solid black, can walk between them, and there are only two left: Holland of White London, and Kell, adopted son of Red London's king and queen, who carries royal letters between the worlds and smuggles trinkets on the side. You live in Red London, beside the glowing red river Isle.

Ways your story could start
- At the night market you see Kell, the Antari prince, slip something small and black into his coat, and he looks shaken.
- A thief from another London has been seen near the docks, and the royal guard is asking questions.
- Master Tieren asks you to take a sealed letter to the prince's rooms. On the way you hear Kell arguing with someone in a voice you do not recognise.
- A ripple of dark magic disturbs the Isle, the river's red glow flickers for a heartbeat, and for a moment the whole market goes quiet.
- Cleaning the palace, you find a strange object from another world in Kell's rooms: a small, cold coin that hums when you hold it.
