The Parapet
An 18-inch-wide, wall-less stone bridge hundreds of feet above a valley. The first trial for all prospective rider cadets. Wind that wants you dead. Many fall or are pushed. Those who cross enter the Riders Quadrant; those who don't become cautionary tales.
Basgiath War College
A militaristic citadel divided into four Quadrants: Riders (dragon bonded), Infantry (ground forces), Healers (medical and magical support), and Scribes (archivists and scholars). The primary setting. Known for lethal culling of cadets and rigid hierarchy. Home to thousands of soldiers and dozens of dragons.
Fourth Wing Barracks
The residential and training wing of Basgiath where dragon riders—including Xaden's Fourth Wing—live, train, and organize into squads. Constant combat training, internal rivalries, and the smell of blood and dragon fire.
The Flight Field and Dragon Vale
Expanses near Basgiath where dragons land, take off, and interact with riders. Key area for bonding, flight training, and demonstrating signets. Where the Threshing occurs and dragons choose their riders—or burn them alive.
War Games Field and Gauntlet Grounds
Training grounds where riders complete deadly obstacle courses and participate in war games that simulate battlefield conditions. Frequent sites of serious injury and death. The Gauntlet is a rite of passage that many don't survive.
