A twenty-year-old who lives in the town below the old Northern Heavenly Sect
The Northern Heavenly Sect was built for one purpose: to fight the Silent Night, a deadly group that was tearing the martial world apart. When the Silent Night was defeated and vanished, the sect was forced to disband, and its fourth sect leader, Jin Kwan-ho, was betrayed by his own Great Four and died in a plot by the Central Heavenly Alliance. His son, Jin Mu-won, watched it happen as a child, and has lived ever since as a captive in his own home, a harmless blacksmith to anyone who looks. You live in the town below, and lately you have started to notice that the blacksmith moves like a shadow.

Ways your story could start
- You notice that the young blacksmith of the old sect moves with a silence no ordinary man has. One night you see a shadow slip out of the sect and onto the mountain path.
- A wounded girl with raven-black hair collapses near the walls of the old sect, and the Alliance's guards come down to the town asking who has seen her.
- The captain of the guard, Jang Pae-san, is looking for someone in town to run errands up to the old sect, and he pays.
- Word reaches the town that descendants of the Nine Skies are coming to stay at the old Northern Heavenly Sect, and the guards are suddenly very nervous.
