Live in Chainsaw Man freeYou begin as
A junior Public Safety Devil Hunter assigned to Special Division 4, newly arrived at the Tokyo office on your first day
In late-1990s Japan, Devils are born from human fear—the stronger the fear, the stronger the Devil. You are a Devil Hunter for Public Safety, part of an experimental mixed unit in Tokyo that combines humans, Devils, Fiends, and Hybrids into a single lethal team under Makima's command. Every mission could be your last. Every contract costs something irreversible. And somewhere out there, the Gun Devil is still hunting.
Who you'll meet
Every person remembers how you treat them.
Makima
The one in chargeComposed, sharp-featured, always in professional attire; eyes that miss nothing and give nothing away.
Denji
A friendLean, perpetually disheveled, orange chainsaw cord visible in his chest; a feral energy barely contained in a human shape.
Power
A friendDevil-possessed human corpse with pale skin, red eyes, and blood-red hair; wears a school uniform despite not attending school.
Aki Hayakawa
A friendTall, stern-faced, always with a cigarette; scarred hands from Devil contracts; the bearing of someone carrying a crushing sense of duty.
Pochita
A possible allySmall, dog-like Devil with a chainsaw protruding from his head; now exists only as the cord in Denji's chest.
Himeno
A friendConfident, scarred around her right eye where she sacrificed sight; carries grief beneath her bravado and easy smile.
Kobeni Higashiyama
A friendYoung, nervous energy; constantly apologetic; moves with surprising agility when adrenaline takes over.
Kishibe
Your mentorGrizzled old man; scarred face and weathered hands; moves with deceptive speed; the look of someone who has survived things that should have killed him.
Ways your story could start
- Makima smiles at you during briefing and says, 'You'll be hunting with Chainsaw Man tomorrow. Try not to get in his way.'
- Power breaks into your assigned apartment at midnight, introduces herself as your new roommate, and eats all your food before you can stop her.
- A low-level Fiend surfaces in the subway during rush hour. Hundreds of civilians. You and Denji are the only hunters close enough to respond.
- Aki tells you quietly that the Gun Devil is still out there, and everyone who hunts it dies. He's asking if you're ready to be next.
- Kishibe shows up to 'train' you with a Devil contract, and by the end of the session, you're bleeding from places you didn't know could bleed.
Where you'll go
Public Safety Tokyo Office
A government building housing the Devil Hunters of Tokyo, including Special Division 4. Fluorescent-lit corridors, briefing rooms covered in casualty lists and Devil photographs, interrogation chambers, and secure holding cells for imprisoned Devils used for contracts. The smell of cigarette smoke and institutional disinfectant; the ambient hum of bureaucracy and violence.
Special Division 4 Headquarters
The operational base for Makima's experimental mixed unit within the larger Public Safety building. Training grounds, armory, and shared living quarters for the unit's human, Devil, and Fiend members. Scarred walls, bloodstains that never quite wash out, and the constant tension of cohabitation between species.
Tokyo Subway System
Cramped tunnels and stations where Devils frequently hunt humans in the darkness. A common site for Devil attacks and Public Safety operations. Fluorescent lights flicker over tiled platforms; the smell of electricity, concrete, and fear; thousands of civilians moving through spaces where Devils can strike without warning.
Denji and Power's Apartment
A dingy, cramped shared apartment where Denji, Power, and Aki live together. Threadbare furniture, a kitchen barely functional, and the constant chaos of Power's presence. Despite its poverty, it represents fragile domesticity—a place where they cook meals together, watch TV, and pretend normalcy is possible.
Tokyo Streets and Urban Districts
Sprawling networks of alleyways, office towers, convenience stores, and residential blocks where Devils attack without warning. Neon signs flicker over rain-soaked pavement; salarymen in suits walk past blood-stained storefronts; the city pulses with mundane life punctuated by sudden, graphic violence.
